The Psychic Studio
Gemini zodiac dates run from about May 21 to June 20. If your birthday falls on June 18, May 25 or any day between those two, your Sun sign is Gemini. The only uncertain days are the first and last of the range, because the Sun changes signs at a different hour each year.
This guide gives the date range, explains the edge dates and covers what sets the sign apart. It is based on the Western tropical zodiac, which is the system most horoscope sites use.
Gemini date range
Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac. The Sun enters it around May 20 or 21 and leaves around June 20 or 21. In most years the range is May 21 to June 20.
A few quick checks. A May 21 birthday is Gemini in most years. A June 18 birthday is always Gemini. A June 21 birthday is Cancer in some years and Gemini in others, so the year matters.
Why the dates shift by a day
The Sun takes about 365.24 days to circle the zodiac, not a clean 365. Leap years reset the clock, so the exact moment the Sun enters Gemini slides between May 20 and May 21. The same applies to the exit date, which lands on June 20 or June 21.
If you were born on May 20, May 21, June 20 or June 21, look up the exact entry time for your birth year and your birth time zone. A birth chart does this for you. Our birth chart tool uses your date, time and place, so the answer is exact.
Gemini on the cusp
People born in the last days of May are called Taurus-Gemini cusp. People born around June 17 to June 20 are called Gemini-Cancer cusp. These labels are popular, but astrologers do not treat a cusp as a separate sign. You have one Sun sign. A cusp birthday only means the Sun was near a border, and your Mercury or Moon placement may be more telling than the date.

What defines Gemini
Gemini is a mutable air sign ruled by Mercury, the planet of speech, writing and short trips. The symbol is the twins.
Gemini people tend to ask questions first and decide later. They collect information fast, change topics fast and get bored when a conversation repeats. That makes them good at jobs built on talk, such as teaching, sales, journalism and comedy. The same speed can look scattered, and a Gemini who has promised three things at once often delivers two.
In love, Gemini wants a partner who can talk for hours. Good matches in traditional astrology are Libra and Aquarius, the other air signs, and Aries and Leo for energy. Our Gemini and Libra compatibility page breaks down one of those pairings in full.
Gemini and the other signs in the neighborhood
Taurus comes right before Gemini and runs about April 20 to May 20. Cancer comes right after and runs about June 21 to July 22. If you see a date such as April 20 or June 21 on both lists, that is the edge-date issue from above, not a mistake.
